Al Stewart is a native of Waterbury, Ct. After serving in the Armed Forces in West
Germany from 1977-1980, Al came into a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ
in 1980 after a good friend was killed in an automobile accident late that summer which
lead Al to finally ponder all the questions so many of us have, e.g. “where did we come
from, why are we here”?, etc. Al then quickly turned his attention to reaching others with
the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. He has founded 2 Churches, The Crossroads
Worship Center with Pastor Jack Kastner (now deceased) back in 1989 and The Oasis
Christian Community with Elder John Medling in 1995 which today is known as Riverbank
Christian Church in Waterbury after merging with another Church. In 2001 Al ventured
into the arena of Interim ministry where he founded the N.E.I. (New England Interim) which
he oversaw until coming to the Kirk. He is the past executive producer, founder and host
of the 7 time Sammy Award winning Cable T.V. show “Crossroads” from 1987-92. Pastor
Al majored in Apologetics at Schofield Graduate Seminary while also attending Golden
State School of Theology under the direction of GSST V.P. Dr. Paul Graves. For his
exemplary work to others in the Christian Community, Pastor Stewart was awarded an
Honorary Doctorate of Divinity through Adonai International Fellowship Alliance (A.I.F.A.)
where he is V.P. of Ministerial Relations as well as a member of the Board of Directors and
past Northeast Senior Minister’s Representative. Just some of his hobbies are Softball,
where he founded and Coached AFC, Athletes For Christ, a 2 time Champion of the
Conference Of Churches Leagues in Naugatuck, Ct. in 2005-6. He also enjoys playing
Chess as a former member of the USCF as well as being a drummer and songwriter with
both his groups, Middle Age Dream and more recently Silent Feedback where they
released their debut CD “I Once Was Young”. Al is married to Dawn and has 2 son’s,
